Our Farm Butchery is open 7 days a week, ran by our Butchery Team: Alan, Naomi, Stuart, David, Angel, Stephen, Dave & Ethan The team butcher and prepare a range of cuts from classics staples to easy meals.

Our Beef is our grass fed beef just like our dairy cows the food fed to our beef herd is from our home grown organic fields in Northumberland. They are grass-fed and this is what gives it the amazing flavour and great quality.

Our Grass Fed Lamb is local Northumberland Lamb some of which are finished on our fields.

Our Pork is Free Range Pork from Annas Happy Trotters in East Yorkshire, only 1-2% of the Pork in the UK is Free Range and we also use this Pork to hand made our own Sausages on site and Bacon.

We have a wide range of Class A British Chicken, whole, breasts and lots of marinated products ready straight for the oven.

Animal Welfare & Slaughter

With an increasing number of customers wanting to understand more about the animal welfare aspect please see the below information about our core meat products:

Our grass-fed beef and grass fed Lamb are carefully reared on our farm or sourced locally before being taken to our local North East abattoir. For transparency the step by step process for our Cattle and Lambs is as follows:

All animals are brought into the lairage with trained animal welfare officers, the stunning line is all on CCTV to ensure correct methods are followed.

The animals are stunned by a penetrating captive bolt for cattle and a penetrating captive pistol for sheep. This method is classed as a Full Stun before Slaughter.

Once they have been stunned they are checked to ensure this has been done correctly before the throat is cut.

 

We source our free-range pork from Annas Happy Trotters in East Yorkshire, where pigs are reared to higher welfare standards.  They are slaughtered in a family run abattoir. The pigs are all humanely electric stunned before slaughter. A small portion of our pork is from our own farm, these pigs are also humanely stunned before slaughter at our local abattoir.
