Grass Fed Organic Dairy Cows
All the cows are grass-fed, with their grass, hay & silage grown here at Bays Leap.
Our fields grow a mix of grasses, herbs & clovers, giving the girls plenty of nutrients. Farm manager Chris’s care for the cows starts with the soil beneath their feet.
The cows provide organic raw & pasteurised milk. Our raw milk is a farm favourite for its rich, creamy taste, with naturally occurring enzymes & bacteria retained as it’s left unpasteurised.
Meet Our Herd
We milk around 900 cows, including Holsteins, Friesians, Jerseys & Dairy Shorthorns. Each breed brings something different to the herd.
Alongside our dairy herd, we raise beef cattle for our Farm Butchery, where you can buy our organic grass-fed beef near Newcastle in Heddon-on-the-Wall.
Life on the Farm
Our girls like a familiar routine. Their first milking is at 5am, leaving the day for grazing & resting before their second milking mid-afternoon.
You’ll often spot them in the fields between March & November. They’re a curious bunch who like to say hello!
