Bays Leap is an organic dairy farm with three small farm shops near Newcastle upon Tyne in Heddon-on-the-Wall, Northumberland.

People Behind Bays Leap

The Mellstrom family bought Bays Leap over 24 years ago. Today, the farm is home to over 1,000 cows.

Farm manager Chris, also known as Geordie Mac & the wider team look after the dairy herd & beef cattle.

Chris takes a soil-first approach, giving back to what gives us so much by caring for the land, cows & local wildlife.

The Cows

All our cows are grass-fed, with their grass, hay & silage grown here at Bays Leap.

You’ll often spot them in the fields between March & November. They’re a curious bunch who like to say hello!

Dairy Shop

We’ve been selling organic milk directly from the farm for 5+ years.

Today, we have three on-site farm shops selling organic dairy, grass-fed beef & organic fruit / veg.

You can also find our milk & milkshakes at off-site vending machines.

Sustainable Energy

Our AD plant turns cattle waste into energy & we collect rainwater for our cows to drink.
